Institutional Scholarships

Deadline and Information


The deadline to apply for Institutional and Private Scholarships is June 1st of every year.

The University of Arkansas Monticello offers a variety of institutional scholarships to assist students with strong academic or leadership record that wish to attend UAM. A complete list of these scholarship options is below, however it is critical that any student interested in applying for these scholarships make note of the following: For scholarship consideration, students must submit an admissions application, scholarship application through https://uamont.academicworks.com, test scores, a 6 or 7 semester transcript and proof of immunization to meet eligibility requirements by June 1.

  • Consideration for scholarship awards will be based upon availability of funds. 
  • Students interested in receiving an upgrade once they receive a scholarship offer must have their higher score submitted by the June 1st deadline.  As such, the February ACT administration is the last score report that will be accepted for scholarship purposes.
  • Scholarship candidates are encouraged to begin the process early in the senior year of high school.

  • No scholarships will be renewed if a student falls below a 2.00 GPA for any semester.
  • If you are taking concurrent classes at UAM and your cumulative GPA is below a 2.75 your scholarship offer could be rescinded.

 Chancellor’s Scholarship ($12,000 per year)

  • $6,000 tuition award per semester for a maximum of eight semesters of continuous enrollment. Out-of-state tuition is waived.
  • Requires 30 ACT composite (minimum 19 English, minimum 19 math) and a 3.00 high school GPA.
  • Renewal criteria: First-time freshmen must complete at least 12 hours the first semester and at least 15 hours in the second semester. After the freshman year at least 15 hours must be completed each semester. A 3.00 grade point average is required.

 University Scholarship ($9,000 per year)

  • $4,500 tuition award per semester for a maximum of eight semesters of continuous enrollment. Out-of-state tuition is waived.
  • Requires 27-29 ACT composite (minimum 19 English, minimum 19 math) and a 3.00 high school GPA.
  • Renewal criteria: First-time freshmen must complete at least 12 hours the first semester and at least 15 hours in the second semester. After the freshman year at least 15 hours must be completed each semester. A 3.00 grade point average is required.

 Academic Scholarship ($6,000 per year)

  • $3,000 tuition award per semester for a maximum of eight semesters of continuous enrollment. Out-of-state tuition is waived.
  • Requires 24-26 ACT composite (minimum 19 English, minimum 19 math) and 3.00 high school GPA.
  • Renewal criteria: First-time freshmen must complete at least 12 hours the first semester and at least 15 hours in the second semester. After the freshman year at least 15 hours must be completed each semester. A 3.00 grade point average is required.
  • Awarded when student applies for admission and scholarship; and ACT scores, class rank and high school GPA are verified.

Weevil Excellence Scholarship ($1,500 per year)

  • $750 tuition award per semester for a maximum of eight semesters of continuous enrollment.
  • Requires 22-23 ACT composite (minimum 19 English, minimum 19 math) and 3.00 high school GPA.
  • Renewal criteria: First-time freshmen must complete at least 12 hours the first semester and at least 15 hours in the second semester. After the freshman year at least 15 hours must be completed each semester. A 3.00 grade point average is required.

Leadership Scholarship ($1,000 per year)

  • $500 tuition award per semester for a maximum of eight semesters of continuous enrollment.
  • Requires 19-21 ACT composite (minimum 19 English, minimum 19 math) and 3.00 high school GPA.
  • Renewal criteria: First-time freshmen must complete at least 12 hours the first semester and at least 15 hours in the second semester. After the freshman year at least 15 hours must be completed each semester. A 3.00 grade point average is required.

Valedictorian Scholarship ($6,000 per year)

  • $3,000 tuition award per semester for a maximum of eight semesters of continuous enrollment. Out-of-state tuition is waived.
  • Requires 21 ACT composite (minimum 19 English, minimum 19 math) and 3.00 high school GPA and proof of valedictorian status (final high school transcript).
  • Renewal criteria: First-time freshmen must complete at least 12 hours the first semester and at least 15 hours in the second semester. After the freshman year at least 15 hours must be completed each semester. A 3.00 grade point average is required.

Out-of-State Tuition Waiver

  • Out-of-state tuition is waived for residents of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Missouri. UA board policy permits an out-of-state waiver for states other than a contiguous state when a student receives an institutional, performance, or athletic scholarship in an amount equal to tuition for a minimum of 12 hours in the fall and spring terms.
  • Waiver is applied when student registers for classes.

Community College Transfer Scholarship ($6,000 per year)

  • $3,000 tuition award per semester for a maximum of four semesters of continuous enrollment. Out-of-state tuition waived.
  • Eligibility Requirements: Students that have never attended a four-year college or University beyond high school whose enrollment at an accredited community college results in completion of an Associate's Degree with at least 60 transferable hours at the 1000-level or above earning a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. 
  • May be renewed for a maximum of three additional semesters after the first semester with completion of a minimum of 15 hours of college-level work each semester (30 hours per academic year) and minimum 3.00 GPA.
  • An admissions application is required, as well as a transcript for evaluation of credits and GPA.  Final transcript must be submitted before any award will be finalized.

Student Achievement Scholarship 

  • Sophomore (30-59 hours completed) $750 per semester.
  • Junior (60-89 hours completed) $1,000 per semester.
  • Senior (90+ hours completed) $1,500 per semester.
  • Must have attended UAM for at least two semesters and have earned 30 semester hours by the end of the academic year in which the application is filed.
  • Must be pursuing first bachelor’s degree.
  • Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Must have a declared major, and continue in that major for the duration of the scholarship.
  • Must not be receiving a UAM institutional scholarship concurrently with the Student Achievement Scholarship.
  • Must meet the scholarship requirements each semester.
  • Renewal criteria: The Student Achievement Scholarship is awarded competitively. Prior recipients may be considered if they complete the application by the June 1st deadline each year.

Senior GAP Scholarship 

  • The amount of this scholarship is to be determined based on demonstrated need and merit.
  • Must have been enrolled at UAM full-time for at least four continuous semesters.
  • Must be within 6 hours of graduating with first bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be in good Academic standing.
  • Must have unmet need.
  • Must not be on financial aid denial at UAM.

Academic Unit and Privately Funded Scholarships

  • Various amounts and durations.
  • Many endowed scholarships are assigned to academic units which select the recipients.
  • Renewal is not guaranteed.
