What is a Camp / Institute?
According to
University policy, a camp/institute is defined as any group of persons
not enrolled at UAM who meet the educational mission of the University,
wishing to use University facilities under either of the following two
conditions:
•Overnight use of
University housing.
•Use of University facilities for two or more consecutive days.
How Do I Request to Host a Camp / Institute?
Policies governing
the use of University facilities determine who may hold a camp/institute
on the UAM campus. (university-wide administrative memorandum 715.1 &
Board of Trustees policy 1715.1)
• Requests for
approval to hold a camp/institute on the UAM campus by both
University and Non-University groups/individuals must be made to
the UAM Camp/Institute Coordinator, who will direct the request to the
UAM Executive Council for its consideration.
• Requests must
contain the following information:
Name of Camp/Institute
Dates Requested (first and second choice, if possible)
Anticipated number of participants as well as staff (include age range
of participants)
Anticipated Housing Needs (if residential)
Anticipated Cost to Participants
Camp/Institute Director and Contact Information (phone, department,
email)
• Requests may be submitted by email or hard
copy to: Julie Gentry, UAM Camp/ Institute Coordinator, beginning August
1, of each year. February 10th, is the deadline for submission
of all requests to host summer camps or institutes on campus.
