About SSS at the University of Arkansas at Monticello

Mission

• To provide exemplary services that ensure SSS participants have a successful college experience by providing academic support and other services that assist eligible undergraduate students with adequate support to stay in college until they earn their baccalaureate degree.
   

• To ensure that SSS participants are acclimated to the UAM climate, able to confidently navigate through the UAM system, and graduate to become a valuable contribution to society. 

Objectives 

• To provide comprehensive academic and student support services to 160 low-income, first-generation and disabled students enrolled at the University of Arkansas at Monticello that will help achieve the major program objectives:
   

  1. Enhanced academic achievement.
     
     

  2. Increased retention and graduation rates.
      
     

  3. Increase enrollment of Gateway participants in professional and graduate programs.
      

  4. Foster a supportive institutional climate that will increase the average satisfaction rating of Gateway participants with college environment. 
      

• Enable program participants to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue the full range of academic and career options available.

Program Goals:

• Provide supportive services each year to 160 students who meet federal eligibility criteria.
   

• Increase retention rates and improve the graduation rates of program participants.
   

• Foster an institutional climate supportive of the success of program participants.
   

• Enable program participants to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue the full range of academic and career options available.
