Honor Societies

Students within the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences have many unique opportunities to become involved in academic honor societies in your major or minor.

These honor societies include:

  • Phi Alpha National Honor Society for Social Work Students

The purpose of the Phi Alpha Honor Society for social work students “is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work” (Phi Alpha Website, October 5, 2011). Our local chapter of Phi Alpha is Theta Zeta, and our faculty sponsor is Marie R. Walker, M.S.W., LMSW.
