Spencer has published more than 100 articles and short stories as well as two novellas and a pair of full-length novels. His list of publications continues to grow with the publication of three short stories and two novellas. Spencer’s short story “Salvage," the tale of an auto body shop owner attempting to salvage both a 1964 Mustang and his fourth marriage will be published in the spring by literary journal “Steel City Review.” A second short story, “You Could Have Been Me,” is forthcoming in the January issue of the literary journal “The Istanbul Literature View." “You Could Have Been Me” tells the story of a middle-aged Hollywood actor who returns to his small hometown in the South to see what a high school girlfriend has been doing for the past 30 years. Spencer’s third short story, “The River,” first published online and now forthcoming in December in the print anthology “The Best of Steel City Review,” examines the mysteries resolved and created by the discovery of an underwater graveyard of wrecked cars on the bottom of the Ohio River. “The River” has been nominated for the anthology “Best of the Web.” Spencer has also recently published two novellas – “Love Hollow” and “Henry.” “Love Hollow” is the story of an elderly widow who attempts to live independently after 60 years of dependence on her husband. “Love Hollow” is one of 10 finalists out of more than 400 entries in the “Quarterly West” national novella competition. “Henry,” recently re-printed in the online journal “Bewildering Stories,” is the story of 14-year-old Henry Wales. Armed with only a paint-ball gun and a burning sense of responsibility Henry struggles to impose good moral values and appropriate behavior on his biker babe mother and his older sister, a disciple of Paris Hilton. To add to his troubles Henry feels his policeman father slipping away into a new life with a new spouse and baby. ![]() For more information contact Spencer at 460-1078. Have a comment?
