Coffee Bean - Owner and manager of The Coffee Bean Richard Russell makes a
chocolate coffee creation. The Coffee Bean offers hot and cold drinks.

The new owners Richard and Vonda Russell decided to keep the shop open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

The new shop comes with new offers for students and community members.  The Russell’s are offering 10 percent off for UAM students and senior citizens. If a customer buys eight blended drinks, they get one free with the new discount cards.

The Coffee Bean plans to host live theater, band, poetry nights, "Guitar Hero," dart leagues and American Idol watches when the season starts again. The T-shirts, like Dad's Place, will come back soon as well.

“I think it’s great that there’s a coffee shop again. It gives me somewhere to hang out between classes or after work,” said Ainslee Sikole, a first-year nursing major.

The Russell’s plan to have a drive-thru window, and WI-FI Internet became operable Thursday, Oct. 25. They say they hope to have the drive-thru complete and running soon. Other plans include soup and sandwiches for lunch starting in November.

The Russell’s not only make local favorites but create some of their own flavors, too. Some of the most recent flavors included Almond Joy Latte, Cookie Dough Coconut Shake and Snicker Mudslide.

"We're really enjoying the college, high school and business members of the community," Richard Russell said.

The Russell’s wanted to re-open the coffee shop to serve the community and be an outreach for the community. They said want to get to know people and let them know that they are there for them.

They say they have always had an interest in opening a coffee shop so when the former owners left, an opportunity presented its self.

"We have been very humbled and grateful for the community's support," Vonda Russell said.
