Blossoms Top Grambling in Four

   Grambling, La. - First-year student Keri Gilbert (San Marcos, Texas) notched a match-high 13 kills and .444 hitting percentage to lead the University of Arkansas - Monticello Cotton Blossoms (10-16) to a 3-1 victory on the road Friday against Grambling.

   The Blossoms won the opening two games 30-27 and 30-27 before Grambling rallied to take a 30-19 victory in the third game. UAM won the fourth and decisive game 30-28.

   Senior Kameshia Melton (Grapevine, Texas) had 11 kills for UAM. Junior Maegan Martin (Burnet, Texas) dished out 32 assists, while first-year student Stephanie Hatten (Baytown, Texas) led UAM with 13 digs.

   The Cotton Blossoms returned to action Tuesday, Oct. 23, hosting Southern Arkansas at Steelman Fieldhouse.
