University Announces Centennial Slogan Contest

In observance of the University of Arkansas at Monticello turning 100 in 2009, the university will construct a clock tower at the center of the campus. UAM will also host the Centennial Slogan Contest.

Centennial Slogan Contest

To honor the occasion the UAM Alumni Association and UAM Foundation Fund are having a centennial slogan contest for full-time students, faculty, staff, emeriti and alumni. Prizes include recognition in news releases and a future issue of UAM Magazine.

If the winning slogan is submitted by a student, the student will receive a one-year tuition scholarship. If the winning slogan comes from an alumnus, faculty or staff member the winner will receive a permanent marker on campus.

"We hope to engage students, faculty, staff and alumni in UAM's Centennial Celebration. It seems only fitting that they should be the ones to suggest the slogan for such a significant event in the school's history," said Linda Yeiser, vice chancellor for advancement.

The deadline for submitting a slogan is Nov. 1. A committee appointed by Chancellor Jack Lassiter will choose the winning slogan. The winner will be announced at the campus tree lighting ceremony Nov. 29.

All slogans must be submitted in writing to the UAM Office of Advancement, Box 3520 Monticello, Ark. 71656 or online by going to UAM’s Internet homepage, clicking on “Alumni and Friends” and selecting UAM Centennial Slogan Contest.
