SGA and SAB Meet to Discuss Campus Issues

Linna Jones
Art and Entertainment Editor

The Student Government Association and Student Activity Board held a meeting to discuss issues on campus in the John F. Gibson University Center Caucus Room Oct. 9.

The SGA and SAB discussed moving the movie inside Tuesday, Oct. 9 due to the ground being wet. They also talked about relocating Friday’s movie in case of bad weather; the members gave the final call to Lindsey Kight if bad weather occurred.

Kight brought up the issue of having "Barbeque and Baseball," at which students could watch one of the World Series games on a big screen while enjoying foods such as hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad and chips. The event would take place Monday, Oct. 29. If Aramark provides food, the expense will mostly likely be $200 for decorations.

SGA President Landon Grimes, senior, informed the board on the fireworks, saying he didn’t receive an answer back.  The SGA and SAB discussed having fireworks at the end of the homecoming game at the SGA and SAB meeting Sept. 11.

The members discussed suggestions about having T-shirts for the last game this year. The board discussed keeping the same logo on the back and keeping the front simple by not having individual group names because of time constraints. The motion passed to have the T-shirts.

SGA discussed money requested for campus organizations including Omega Psi Phi to bring a comedian to campus and the Creative Society for the upcoming Mocha Madness. The group also discussed funding for Student 2 Student to have a drawing for T-shirts for Alcohol Awareness Week.

Junior Brittany Pickett discussed her thoughts on student participation.

“Anyone can participate, but nobody knows they can,” Pickett said.
