Blossoms Swept by Puerto Rico

Paul Smith
Sports Information Director

Despite a 14-kill effort by senior Kameshia Melton (Grapevine, Texas), the University of Arkansas at Monticello's Cotton Blossoms (8-14) were swept 3-0 by the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Sunday at Steelman Fieldhouse.

The Blossoms dropped the match after losing 30-26, 30-24 and 30-20 in the three-game match.

Melton’s 14 kills led UAM, while UPR’s Nadia Navarro led all players with 20 kills. Melton’s .440 hitting percentage was a match high. Freshman Vikki Crisco (Saginaw, Texas) led UAM with 34 assists, while junior Maegan Martin (Burnet, Texas) had a team-best 13 digs.

The Cotton Blossoms returned to action Tuesday, Oct. 9 as hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Steelman Fieldhouse.
