Louisiana Cellist to Perform

Talented - Cellist Paul Christopher will perform Oct. 29. Paul Becker will accompany Christopher.

   Paul Christopher, principal cellist of the Longview Symphony Orchestra and an assistant professor of music theory and low strings at Northwestern (La.) State University, will present a free public concert  in the Harris Recital Hall of the Music Building Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
            
  
The University of Arkansas-Monticello Division of Music sponsored Christopher’s performance. Paul Becker, professor of music, will accompany Christopher on the piano.

   Christopher served 15 years as principal cellist of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Shreveport Opera and as a member of the Premier String Quartet.

   He graduated of the New England Conservatory and the University of Memphis. In the summers he serves as assistant principal cellist of the Peter Britt Festival Orchestra in Jacksonville, Ore.
            
   Christopher performs with the Nashville String Machine, performing on numerous recordings by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Faith Hill and Ricky Skaggs. He is currently involved in recording the cello duos of Jacques Offenbach on the Human Metronome label with fellow cellist Ruth Drummond.
