The Arkansas Educational Television Network’s “Art in the Atrium” series continues this fall with the opening of a World War II exhibit as a companion to Ken Burns’ latest documentary, “The War,” and “In Their Words: AETN’s WWII Oral Histories Project.”

Veterans interviewed for the “In Their Words” project have contributed many of the artifacts, and DVD players at each case provide firsthand accounts of what part the items played in World War II.

Other features include a collection of thousands of rare archival photographs provided by the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, a history of WWII and a wall honoring those Arkansans who were killed in the war.

The grand opening of the exhibit was held Thursday, Sept. 27. This free exhibit will be on display weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through December. AETN is located at 350 South Donaghey Avenue in Conway. AETN’s “Art in the Atrium” continues to be an ongoing community outreach program that began in April 2001.

The Arkansas Educational Television Network, www.aetn.org, provides lifelong learning opportunities, improves and enhances Arkansans’ lives and celebrates the unique culture of Arkansas through its programming and services. AETN’s analog and digital transmitters and numerous cable system connections give it statewide reach.
