Danielle Kloap Around Campus Editor Working with the University of Arkansas-Monticello Debate team inspired Reagan Megee to apply for a graduate assistantship in the Student Programs and Activities Office.
Megee, a member of the Henderson State University Debate team, received information about the graduate assistant program at UAM through the Debate team. “I’ve heard and seen so many good things (about the GA program),” Megee said. “I really like it here.” Megee assists Lindsey Kight, director of student programs and activities, with Greek organizations, event planning, tailgating and anything else that needs to be done. Kight said Megee does an outstanding job as the Student Programs and Activities GA. “Reagan has been absolutely wonderful,” Kight said. “She is extremely motivated and serious about her present GA job and graduate work as well as her future work goals,” Liz Foster, a sophomore Psychology major who works in the Student Programs and Activities office, also enjoys working with Megee. “She’s spontaneous and a lot of fun to be around,” Foster said. “I love working with Reagan.” Megee grew up in Los Angeles, Calif. She moved the summer before her sophomore year to Arkadelphia. After graduating from Arkadelphia High School, Megee continued her education at Henderson State University. She stayed active in school by joining Alpha Xi Delta sorority, Pi Kappa Delta National Speech Honorary, Debate team and Student Congress. “I like being an active and participating member of campus,” Megee said. “I have a lot of experience with the groups (Student Activities) works with.” Megee graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, with a minor in Sociology. She attends the University of Arkansas at Little Rock through her GA position at UAM, and is pursuing a Masters of Applied Communication Studies. After graduating with her master’s degree Megee wants to work with Arkansas legislators on child abuse advocacy. Megee said she might pursue her PhD. In 10 years Megee hopes to be finished with
her education, working with people and settling down. “I want a family, a house with a white picket fence and a career,” Megee said. Have a comment? Please e-mail us. ŠThe Voice 2007 Revised 01/13/2008 03:22:48 PM — http://www.uamont.edu/Organizations/TheVoice/5_4/megee.htm |
