McGehee Nursing Students Elect Officers

   Practical nursing students at the University of Arkansas-Monticello College of Technology-McGehee recently elected six students as officers for the Arkansas Licensed Practical Nursing Student Association. Scott Saffold Named to Foundation Board
 
   Scott Saffold of Monticello has been appointed to the board of directors of the University of Arkansas at Monticello Foundation Fund, according to Linda Yeiser, vice chancellor for advancement.

   Saffold is senior vice president and chief loan officer of Union Bank and Trust Company of Monticello, and a 1991 UAM graduate. Saffold’s term on the 10-member board will run from 2007 until 2011.

   “We are pleased to welcome Scott Saffold to the UAM Foundation board,” Yeiser said. “He is someone who has always demonstrated a commitment to the continued growth and success of the university.”

   The UAM Foundation Fund board oversees the private fund-raising efforts of the university and is part of the University of Arkansas Foundation, Inc.

School of Forestry to Host High School Visitation Day Oct. 15

   High school students throughout the state and region will get a first-hand look at educational and career opportunities in forestry, wildlife management and spatial information systems at the second annual visitation day hosted Oct.15 by the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s School of Forest Resources.

   The event is designed to introduce high school students to the school and its programs. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Forest Resources Complex. UAM faculty will give demonstrations in various areas of f­orestry, wildlife and spatial information systems and the event will conclude with a luncheon in the UAM Forestry Park.
