The Library Offers Trial Access to New E-Publications

   The Fred J. Taylor Library is pleased to offer trial access to electronic publications from Greenwood Press, Praeger and Libraries Unlimited. Please review these resources and share you comments/suggestions with us. The username is greenwood. The password is expert.

   American Reference Books Annual Online (ARBA) provides reviews of print and electronic reference works. Features more than 17,000 reviews of reference works published since 1997. Covers reference sources from more than 400 publishers in over 500 subject areas. Trial ends Sept. 30.

   Authors4Teens explores the craft, insight, habits, hobbies, studies and passions of today's top young adult authors.  Each author is showcased with in-depth interviews, a bibliography, reviews and appearances.  Trial ends Sept. 30.

   Daily Life Through History Basic and Premium features a library of 58 titles, including six volumes from the Greenwood Encyclopedia of Life, 44 volumes from Daily Life through History series, tours through Time features and over 2,000 illustrations, maps and primary documents.  Trial ends Sept. 30.

   Greenwood Digital Collection --EBooks is comprised of reference, academic and general interest e-books.  It is not just a collection of PDF downloads, but complete texts — all searchable by keyword, subject, author, title or any Boolean search method.  Includes 3,000 titles from Praeger, Greenwood Press and Libraries Unlimited.  Trial ends Sept. 30.

   Index to Current Urban Documents is a guide to the reports and research that are generated by local government agencies, civic organizations, academic and research organizations, public libraries and metropolitan and regional planning agencies, in approximately 500 selected cities in the United States and Canada.  Trial ends Sept. 30.

   Praeger Security International Online publishes insightful and timely material on international security, including defense and foreign policy, strategy, regional security, military history and terrorism.  Provides access to 600 plus titles, expert commentary and analysis, primary documents, an annotated bibliography and more.  Trial ends Sept. 30.

   The African American Experience gives voice to the black experience from its African origins to the present day.  Includes materials from 350 reference and scholarly works from Greenwood and Praeger, hundreds of primary documents, including manuscripts, speeches, court cases and advertisements; over 4,000 WPA slave narratives and "In Their Own Voice" audio clips featuring interviews, music files and other primary source material.  Trial ends Sept. 30.

   The Latino American Experience explores the history and culture of Latinos in the United States.  Features over 200 volumes of content, from encyclopedias to biographies, a searchable timeline, dating from the pre-Colonial civilizations of the Aztecs through the most recent political movements and achievements of contemporary Latinos, and offers content on modern day Latin American countries, and Hispanic History and Indigenous Peoples.  Spanish language content includes folktales, recipes and primary documents.  Trial ends Sept. 30.

   The Reader's Advisor Online includes all the volumes in Libraries Unlimited's well-known Genreflecting series, and contains selected essays from The Readers' Advisor's Companion and Nonfiction Readers' Advisory and more.  Covers over 400 genres, subgenres and reading interests and is based on the advice of top reader's advisory experts (i.e. Nancy Pearl, Gary Niebuhr and Diane Herald).  Features a tool for finding related titles.  Users can save multiple titles and search results to printable lists.  Trial ends Sept. 30.

   World Folklore and Folklife is a multicultural and multidisciplinary resource that features thousands of classic folk tales, including the complete Hans Christian Anderson stories, Grimms' fairy tales and folktales from around the world.  Also features Funk & Wagnalls "Standard Dictionary of Folklore Mythology and Legends," multimedia resources and titles in the Greenwood Folklore Handbook series.  Subjects include: arts and crafts, holidays, and festivals, religion and belief, food and drink, music and dance, and tales, myths and urban legends.  Trial ends Sept. 30.
