Volunteers Needed for the Natural State Expo

Courtesy of
Arkansas Sustainability Network

It's time to gear up for Natural State Expo 2007; We need your help before the Expo and at the Expo.

A meeting will take place Sept 11 at 6 p.m. or Sept 12 – whichever fits your schedule.   If you want to volunteer but cannot come to a meeting, no worries, just contact us by phone or e-mail.

Before the Expo we need help with outreach events.  Many places need to be to talk about and promoted at the Expo during September and the beginning of October.  Will you volunteer some of your time at these upcoming events?  What sounds like fun to you?  Wonders of the Watershed?  Thea Foundation Sidewalk Art? Watershed Appreciation Day?  World Fest?  As a community based organization it's so important that we get out into the community to let people know about ASN and the Natural State Expo.  Interested?

We will also need volunteers to help paint signs and finish displays for the Expo.  This was one of our most fun volunteer activities last year and this year sure not to disappoint!  Let us know if you want to sign up for that – We will paint at the end of September and beginning of October. Dates and times will be announced.

    At the Expo…

    Oct. 12:

Set-up –  We need a crew of between 20 and 30 people to help set-up for the Expo.  We will be setting up Friday, Oct. 12 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Exhibitor Move-in - (4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Oct. 12) – This gives you a chance to get a sneak peek at the Expo exhibitors and Innovation Alleys booths!

   Oct. 13:

The day of the Expo brings a lot of exciting volunteer tasks! Imagine yourself at the Expo – what would you like to do?  If we all pitch in a couple of hours we'll have all the volunteer positions covered and plenty of time to enjoy the event!

Event oversight – You walk around and notice if anything is out of place, answer people's questions about the event, and make sure that the exhibitors, youth activity providers and Innovation Alley participants are doing well.

Greeters – You welcome people to the event, assure them they are in the right place, then direct them to ASN booth where get the map of the Expo and hopefully donate.

Photographers and Videographers – You walk around and take pictures and video of the Expo.

Outreach – You walk around the RiverMarket and outside of the Statehouse Convention Center letting passer-bys know about the Expo and direct them to the event.

Lunch Covers – You help cover some booths while exhibitors grab lunch or take breaks.

Special Booths – You volunteer your time to work a solar energy, local farmer or green city display, or the ASN booth.

We look forward to hearing from you.  Please contact us with your name, contact information, approximate times that you will be available and any preferences you have for volunteer activities.

We're looking forward to a SPECTACULAR NATURAL STATE EXPO!  We've been contacted by many interesting exhibitors from across the state, and we'll post the exhibitors on our website soon.
