Unified - Spiritual Adviser, Rev. Alfred Branch, pastor for Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church, talked with group members about being a good Christian and practicing good conduct.

The Unity Club and Choir, a religious group that meets weekly Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Classroom Building, recently performed at the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.

The non-denominational Christian club started in 1994 with member Atiya Patterson. The current 15 student members come from a variety of different backgrounds and races. Jordan Thomason, a nursing and psychology major, serves as the club president.

“When I started college I knew I was going to be away from church a lot, so I decided to join the group,” Thomason said id

Alethea Dallas, of the Cashier's Office, advises the Unity Club, and Alford Branch of Holmes Chapel sponsors the club. The club will perform at the African American banquet as well as have an Extravaganza Week in spring semester 2008.

Eric Bell, a criminal justice major and member of Unity, said the choir fit his musical appreciation.

“Gospel Hymns have more joy than regular songs,” Bell said.
