Arkansas-Monticello connected on 21 three-point attempts as a team to set a new Gulf South Conference record and easily shattered the previous school record.

Final score of the game was 114-44, giving the Cotton Blossoms its third straight win and moving the team above .500 on the season. The scoring total marks the 19th time a UAM team scored 100 points or more and the 11th time for a total of 110 or more.

The 21 three-pointers breaks the GSC record by one shot, as North Alabama held the previous record with 20 three-pointers in a win over Lindsey Wilson in the 1998-99 season. The total also easily breaks a school record, which was previously held by the 1988-89 squad, which hit 15 three-pointers in a win over Belhaven.

The Cotton Blossoms had no problems in the Rhema game, as was evident by the 19-2 lead they had only five minutes into the contest.

Rhema had a difficult time controlling each of its possessions and UAM capitalized by creating 26 steals, which is four shy of the school record for a single game. Junior Sharlene Murphy (Coldwater, Miss.) applied the most pressure on defense, which led to a game-best eight steals (two shy of the school individual record).

UAM had two players above 20 points in the game, and four others who reached 10 points or more.

Freshman Janette Thompson (Hot Springs,) finished as the game's high scorer with 25 points, including a game high 7-of-10 performance from beyond the three-point line. Thompson's other four points came from the free-throw stripe, where she was 4-of-5.

Junior Andrea Dubose (Newton, Miss.) was the next highest scorer in the game, as the transfer from East Central Community College tallied 22 points, five rebounds and four steals. Dubose connected on four three-point attempts.

Junior Kristi Martin (Bay Springs, Miss.) scored 15 points in the game, and also led the game in blocked shots with three.

Junior Tasha Owens (Fox) finished with 13 points and five assists, senior Gemma Gibson (Dodd City, Texas) finished with 14 points and four rebounds and freshman Erika Brown (Shreveport, La.) rounded out the double-digit scorers with a 10 point, seven rebound performance.

Rhema was led offensively from Cortney Becker and Larrisa Brown, who finished with totals of 14 and 13 points, respectively.

UAM, now 3-2 overall this season, had less than 24 hours to rest as it hosted Central Baptist Tuesday night in a non-conference game in.
