Fightin' For It - The Blossoms fight for position after Kristi Martin's shot. The Blossoms beat Pitt State 83-71 to with the Dr. Mary Jane Gilbert Basketball Classic.

Junior Andrea Dubose scored 19 points and helped University of Arkansas at Monticello defeat Pittsburg State in the final game of the Mary Jane Gilbert Basketball Classic with a final score of 83-71.

Along with her 19 points, Dubose (Newton, Miss.) was one rebound shy of recording a double-double and also connected on 3-of-5 3-point attempts. Dubose was one of two Cotton Blossoms to make the All-Classic team.

The other member of the All-Classic team from UAM was sophomore LaToya Josey (Madisonville, Texas) who not only made the team, but was also selected as the classic's most valuable player. Josey finished the Pitt State game with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Also turning in a good performance in the Pitt State game was freshman Erika Brown (Shreveport, La.), finishing with 16 points and seven rebounds. Brown was 6-of-9 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw stripe.

With the win, UAM improves its overall record to an even 2-2. The win also clinched the classic championship and made UAM the only team to not record a loss over the weekend.

The Blossoms hit the hardwood again Monday, Dec. 3 and hosted Rhema College in a non-conference game in the Steelman Field House.
