Blossoms Extend Streak to Four

Brian Ramsey
Sports Information Director

Less than 24 hours after breaking the Gulf South Conference three-point record in a game, Arkansas-Monticello extended its winning streak to four games with a win at home over Central Baptist College with a final score of 92-50.

Similar to Monday night's game, UAM jumped out to a quick lead of 18-0 in the first five minutes the contest, before CBC reached the scoreboard with two free-throws.

UAM then secured at least a 20-point lead for the remainder of the game.

Freshman Janette Thompson (Hot Springs) struck again this season, this time with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds. Thompson connected on 4-of-7 three-pointers, which contributed to UAM's 31 percent three-point shooting as a team.

Junior Andrea Dubose (Newton, Miss.) scored a game-high 25 points, while pulling down five rebounds and recording another game-high in steals with six. Dubose connected on half of her three-point attempts to finish with four three-pointers.

Junior Tasha Owens (Fox) was the next highest scorer on the team with a 14 point finish, while sophomore LaToya Josey (Madisonville, Texas) rounded out the UAM double-digit scorers with 11 points and also pulled down five rebounds.

Freshman Erika Brown (Shreveport, La.) was well on her way of reaching a double-double, but got into foul trouble and was forced out of the game early in the second half. Brown finished with eight points and seven rebounds.

With the win, UAM improves its overall record to 4-2 on the season, while CBC dropped to 4-7.

The Cotton Blossoms travel to Arkadelphia. this weekend to participate in the Ouachita Baptist Lady Tiger Classic, where the team will play Montevallo Friday and St. Mary's Saturday. The Montevallo game starts at 4 p.m. in the Bill Vining Arena on the campus of OBU.
