Weevils Lose Three at Legends Classic

   The University of Arkansas – Monticello men’s basketball team lost three straight at the Legends Classic, falling to three Division I opponents by a combined score of 284-149.

   The Weevils opened the classic with 101-44 loss against No. 7 Tennessee. Deron Brown was the only Weevil to score double digit points, registering 11 in the contest.

   In the second game, UAM fell to West Virginia 81-53 in its strongest showing during the classic. Derek Easter, Giovanni Marchetti and Brown put up double digit points, scoring 12, 13 and 13 respectively.

   In the last game of the classic, the Weevils lost to No. 15 Texas 100-52. Only two Weevils registered double digit points in the contest. Justin Johnson led the team with 18 points, shooting 6-16 from the field and 2-3 from the charity stripe. Duke Sturdivant picked up 13 points while shooting 5-6 from the free point line and 4-13 from the field.

   The Weevils return to action Nov. 26 as it plays host to West Alabama to open conference play.
