Chad Newton Staff Writer I concluded in the presidency of George W. Bush that this amounts to perhaps one of the worst fiscal presidency terms ever. We suffer debt up to our necks thanks to Bush’s excessive spending on a war that cannot be won, with 135,000 of our men and women serving in the military. Education suffers more than ever, jobs leave in outsourcing, and the economy continues going up and down like a yo-yo. The combination of politics and religion has placed a strain on the separation of church and state. Personally, I believe this Cowboy Diplomacy isolates us from other nations as well as pits Americans against Americans. The Bush Administration runs the country like the mafia - either you stand with us, they think, or you stand on the side of the terrorist. Just because some Americans and other nations disagree with the administration’s policy as well as the war does not mean they side with the terrorist. We, as Americans during the Bush administration, have become isolated and closed-minded to other options besides preemptive strikes. In the past, America experienced terrible relations with other countries and unbelievably Regan became the person who pulled together all nations to get along with each other. Bush now claims the title of the president who severed ties with other nations - those nations that do not comply with the Bush Doctrine. I must ask, Mr. President, why in the hell do you pick fights with other countries? Unfortunately, Bush, you are nothing more than a mere spoiled rotten child. It would seem like your father, Bush Sr., would advise you to be more patient and diplomatic and not throw a hissy fit every time someone does not agree with you. It should be apparent that the military is stretched quite thin; this is not good. I notice the National Guard experiences continuous deployment. The National Guard was originally designed to protect and defend the homeland. Only as the last resort should the National Guard be used to help fight foreign wars. By the same token, I do not fully blame President Bush for all his decisions involving the war of Iraq. Bush gets his suggestions from the likes of neo-conservatives like Paul Wolfowitz. Wolfowitz, in 1992 while Bush Sr. was president, typed a memo about creating a scenario in the future where another war in Iraq would be necessary. In addition, Wolfowitz named Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya, Syria and Iran. President Bush adamantly rejected the memo, but in 2001, the memo came back - this was after 9/11 happened and also after a spat between Wolfowitz and former ranking CIA agent Richard Clarke took place. Clarke claimed Bin Laden was the person to go after and Afghanistan the place to hunt him down. Wolfowitz angrily disagreed and stated we should strike in Iraq and not concern ourselves too much with Bin Laden because he is a joke. The New York Times leaked this story as well as the doctrine. The doctrine was not meant to become available to the public, but it was exposed March 7 and edited April 16 of 1992. This was the neoconservative's opportunity to start and continue the Wolfowitz Doctrine. This doctrine believed in preemptive strikes and no oppositions of equal nuclear weaponry - policing in a "New World Order" fashion. The doctrine was adopted along with the Bush Doctrine, also revised by Wolfowitz and Cheney. Why are we fighting amongst each other to prove to our country that we are the most patriotic? We should not fight each other while there are very real terrorists harbored in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Pakistan. America has become separated by ignorant idealogy from neo-conservative and neo-liberals alike. These academic retards poison the traditional American way and create a pro-bully society amongst other countries. I love America to the death, but I despise the people in charge. The people in charge want to create a one-world police nation that monitors all foreign countries' activities. I consider this nation the paranoid nation. I respect dissent, but I do oppose opposition of one’s own country. This is the reason why providing education, manufacturing jobs and improving public housing is on hold - in exchange for childish fantasy war games with people they have a bone to pick with. If it were up to me, I would have the Pentagon staff responsible tried for treason and executed within 30 days without appeal. I cannot blame Bush for everything; remember, Bush takes orders from a cell phone. While we are sucked in to the lives of Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and other Hollywood cokehead jack-offs, we are not paying attention to the laws that are being passed. Today, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program was rejected after President Bush’s veto. Some of you may know about this; others paid no attention. Even media outfits are getting a piece of the hate-each-other action. News broadcasters day after day compete with each other to convince you they are fair and balanced. News organizations are willing to trash each other to get you to tune in for the BS. News organizations such as MSNBC, FOX NEWS and CNN viciously attack each other on their investigating reporting creditability. Instead of reporting the news with creditability and honesty, the spin continues to reign supreme, as long as big corporations are willing to foot the bill to further help their interest. The sickness of negative political commercials just makes my stomach turn as much as the low ratings of BET. Whatever happened to united we stand? Instead we divide and backstab our fellow man. We have these problems, and we have allowed this 'war' to divide us more even than the Vietnam war. But what can we do to solve the problems? I really cannot give you an answer because I do not have all the answers in the world. However, if you really want my opinion, here it goes. 10 things that need to change:
I could find many more problems, but
that would take forever, and I do not have that kind of valuable time.
Nevertheless, in all seriousness, we as Americans are going to have to
do something or we will end up just like the Roman Empire.
