Future Plans Discussed in SGA Meeting

Sheena Garrard
Staff Writer

The meeting included discussion about the upcoming events for University of Arkansas - Monticello students before finals. Some of the events included the “We Can Make You Laugh” activity. The event will take place Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. The event will feature comedians who try to make students laugh, and the student who does not laugh wins $50 and a T-shirt.

In the meeting Student Government Association President Corrie Ross said, "The students needed to bring canned food goods to be able to participate in the show." SGA will donate the canned goods to the food bank in Monticello because they have a short supply of food left.

In the meeting Lindsey Kight, student programs and activities director, also talked about bringing other activities on campus to get more canned foods in the community.

Kight said, “During the ‘make you laugh’ game show, students who bring additional canned food goods will be in a drawing for extra door prizes given away at the show." The more canned food goods a student gives, the more they can enter their name in the drawing.

UAM student Brittany Pickett said, "More activities on campus will get students involved with food drives."

Pickett came up with the idea of having a party and charging students canned food items to help raise the amount of food available at the Monticello food bank.
