Winter Fashion Flashes Back to the Seventies

Amber Rowe
Staff Writer

Seventies, anyone? It appears that the fashion cycle makes its rounds again. This winter season, its high neck blouses, big men-style tailored pants, cloaks and capes and even throw in some equestrian pieces such as boots.

All late seventies inspired, these pieces are sure to steal the show this year. For those who were fond of a popular trend over the summer, the leggings paired with a short skirt and flip flops will still be in; just swap the flops for some boots. Anything from the early 1970s to late 1980s hits big this season.

One of my favorites, the oversize crow neck sweater with leggings and knee-high boots, paired with a swanky belt will catch a look. The overall styles scream business-looking and sophisticated with a classy edge.

Take the high neck blouses for example; they are ruffled at the top and frilly. You put a tight fitted suit with it that accentuates your silhouette, and you have professional meets pretty.

Flashback to the last episode of “Charlie’s Angels” you watched, and you will see a wide variety of gauchos and boots in the wardrobe. These plus a slinky top and a cropped jacket has already hit the Stella McCartney runway for winter.

Last, but certainly not least, don’t leave home without a good pair of snow boots that are hitting stores fast.

With the following pieces stocked in your closet, you are sure to be in style this season.
