Waff-L-Inn Returns

Waff-L-Inn - Open 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.

The new and improved Waff-L-Inn serves University of Arkansas-Monticello students once again. It opened up on Monday, Oct. 23 after being closed for a period of time. They stay open 24 hours a day and only close on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The new owners, Robert “Bob” and Karen Hall, have worked hard the past few weeks to insure their customers will have the best of the restaurant. It took them five weeks to clean up and get the restaurant ready for re-opening. They installed a new dishwasher, rebuilt the refrigerator and freezer, new ceiling and flooring and completely restocked all items such as dishes, pots and glasses.

Drew Watkins, a senior Business Administration major, said, “The new Waff-L-Inn is a lot cleaner and looks much nicer than before.”

Hall has made some renovations to the menu from the previous menu. He has added wraps and salads to the menu. The average meal will cost about $5.50 which compares to the old Waff-L-Inn prices. They will serve the full menu 24 hours a day in a smoke-free environment. Students will receive a 10 percent discount when showing their student identification card.

Hall bought the restaurant. His wife worked in the cafeteria for Aramark, while daughter Robin Neblett worked in the Patio Café. Another familiar face from UAM food service, Kim Griffin, also worked in the Patio Café and has gone to work for Waff-L-Inn.

The restaurant passed all of its health inspections and needed no improvements. The restaurant’s atmosphere makes it a more inviting place to eat.

The family manages Waff-L-Inn. They have doubled on cooks and servers to serve their customers faster. The owners are accepting applications which are available at the restaurant.

Hall said, “We are trying to make more of a family restaurant and change the reputation from before. Come on in and try us!”
