Staff Writer It appears to be that McDonald's could be the new “it” spot for kids as well as college students. Michelle Smith, manager of two years, seems to be very excited about the drastic change. What used to be the play place, or the kid’s play area rather, will now be a lounge area. It will include tables, chairs and a coffee table for a more relaxed environment. The highlight of it will be access to wireless Internet or Wi-Fi. Smith said although not free of charge, it will allow people to go in and plug up their laptops to work. The Internet access will start out at $2.99, she estimates. They will be allotted so much time to use Wi-Fi. Also, in the lounge area will be the popular Xboxes and a few flat screens TV’s that will be on 24/7. Smith said when completed, the store will not even resemble a regular McDonalds. “We are just trying to upgrade more and hopefully draw in more business,” she said. Smith said everything will be new including the walls, seats and the outside landscape as well. The building as a whole will expand to 95 seats instead of its 55 at the present time. “I am very excited about the change because as of now we are the only McDonald's that will have this unique look,” she said. Several students are both curious and excited about the change. “While grabbing a bite to eat, you can do your work as well,” sophomore Josh Green said. Construction is expected to be complete around
the third week in November. “I think it’ll be cool, maybe like Java Café we can bring in some poetry to read,” senior Special Sanders said. ©The Voice 2006 Revised 09/13/2006 11:05:03 PM— http://www.uamont.edu/Organizations/TheVoice/4_7/mcdonalds.htm |
