Are you ready for some football? Monday night marked a couple of milestones for the National Football League and the city of New Orleans, La. Monday Night Football was live from the Superdome in New Orleans. This was the first game the New Orleans Saints have played in the Superdome since Hurricane Katrina.

Many who could not afford to eat, saved their lunch money and bought tickets to Monday night’s game. This season marks the first time season tickets have been sold out in franchise history.

Some are calling Monday night’s game the rebirth of New Orleans, but there are still thousands of things to be done. But the hope of a great season for the Saints does bring hope to hundreds of thousands of citizens that New Orleans will one day be great again.

The game was highlighted by halftime performances by Green Day and U2.

The Saints showed the Atlanta Falcons no mercy for four quarters as the Saints dominated on both sides of the ball as well as on special teams. The Saints improved their record to 3-0 and the Falcons fell to 2-1 on the season as the Saints defeated the Falcons 23-3.

While the game on the field was an opportunity for the people of New Orleans to take their mind off of the day-to-day struggles of post Katrina life, there have been many Saints’ players who have donated time, money and effort off of the field to help those in need.

Saints’ running back and first overall draft pick Reggie Bush and quarterback Drew Brees have gone above and beyond the call of duty to reach out to those in need in the New Orleans area since both have become part of the Saints organization this year. Whether handing out supplies or donating time and money, these two outstanding gentlemen have touched the lives of thousands in their new home towns.
