Last week sorority recruitment only had five girls to complete recruitment week.

Do you still want to join a sorority? It is not too late. All sororities participate in Continuous Open Bidding and will have recruitment activities throughout the semester. Keep your eyes open for interest meeting for your interested sorority.

Six girls started recruitment on Wednesday night, which is when “quota” is established. Quota is the number of total participants divided by number of sororities, therefore it was two for each sorority. This is the number of bids that can be passed out at the end of formal recruitment.

Alpha Sigma Tau received their quota and extended an open bid after bid matching and received three new members from formal recruitment. Alpha Sigma Alpha received quota.

Recruitment is a time for potential new members to learn about each sorority and decide where they fit in the best. It is also a time for each sorority to get together and become closer as sisters.

Each sorority works very hard for recruitment and it is a disappointment to every chapter on the number of girls that participated. Sisters stay at school long hours preparing for the party the next night. But all members are optimistic and hope that girls are able to come out to interest meetings throughout the semester.

The last night, sisters and potential new members participate in a preferential tea. This ceremony shows potential new members how much their sorority means to them. Each chapter does something different and is very special to them.

Don not forget to keep an eye out for interest meetings of each sorority the rest of the semester and you may still become a member.

"Sisterhood is many things. It's a warn smile on a cold and rainy day, a friendly hug, a cheerful hello... It's all that a good and lasting friendship is, only better. It's treasured. It's sacred. It's knowing that there will always be someone there for you. It's dreams shared, and goals achieved. It's counting on others and being counted on. It is real." – Anonymous
