The Foliate Oak Online unveiled its new and improved Web site with the September 2006, Volume I, Issue 1.

The bookmarks at the top of the page provide a map for the reader’s journey, making the site more user friendly.

The prose and poetry section, consist of some of today’s up and coming writers. For those who do not like reading, the site offers an art section.

The submission section provides guidelines for submitting artwork, poetry and prose. The Foliate Oak Online is always looking for the next great artist or writer.

The biggest change to the Web site came from the switch from FrontPage to Plone. Diane Payne, adviser of The Foliate Oak, made the decision.

“We switched from FrontPage to Plone, because I prefer using Macs, and FrontPage doesn’t work on a Macintosh," Payne said. "Now we can lay out our print journal and post our online magazine on one machine."

Brooke Burger, editor of The Foliate Oak, and the rest of the staff worked extremely hard the past couple of weeks to get the site up and running.

“Though it has been challenging learning the new program, I think in the end, the new Web site will benefit the staff, contributors and readers," Burger said. "A new feature that I love is the search bar; it makes things a lot easier to find."
