Evans Joins Speech Department

Sheena Garrard
Staff Writer

Jim Evans, instructor of speech, brings numbers to the speech and journalism department.

Evans, from Joplin, Mo., graduated from Missouri Southern State University, and received a master’s degree at Central Missouri University.

Evans wants to bring enthusiasm to the classroom. Evans said he will also bring a quantitative style of learning.

Evans also likes to interact with students.

He said, “That interaction gets students more involved in the classroom, and I like working with people who love to learn.”

Evans chose the University of Arkansas at Monticello partly because of the area and the faculty that surround him. Hobbies of Evans include fishing, reading and helping with the UAM forensics team.

Scott Kuttenkuler, director of forensics, said Evans is a great addition to the department.
