Dean of the School of Business Lou James recently recruited a couple of
new professors for the University of Arkansas at Monticello's Business
department, including the lively Michael Alexander.
Alexander grew up in Warren, Ark., located right next door to
Monticello. He served in the Army as well as the Marine Corps for a
number of years. He also worked for Entergy and related companies for
about 15 years.
Although Alexander always wanted to be a teacher, he enjoys other
activities as well. An ordained minister for 23 years, he currently
works with the Plum Street Church of Christ in El Dorado, Ark. Alexander
and his wife have three children and three grandchildren. His wife
teaches at Eastside in Warren.
Prior to coming here, Alexander taught as an adjunct professor at
the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. While he initially hoped for
the same position at UAM, he stumbled upon a full-time professor
position presented to him by James.
Alexander teaches a number of classes including organizational
behavior and international business. He said he enjoys his classes and
does his best to instill good qualities in his students.
Alexander said, “I feel good about what I’m doing, and I’m glad to
be here.”
