4th and Long

John Kloap and Buford Lamb
Sports Columnists

For the first time in two years, there was a ring across campus after the game.  Some of the freshman and sophomores might not know what we are talking about; it was the Victory Bell, that old rusty bell over by the lake.

The Victory Bell has a very long and storied past, and has only taken a hiatus for nine years in 1990-99.  The Victory Bell is to be rung whenever University of Arkansas of Monticello wins a home football game.

At the end of the fourth quarter and after the football team stands for the Alma Mater, then the fans can join the football team over at the bell. Captains of the team ring it to commemorate our victory.

We would also like to thank the fans for this weekend. The 4th and Long team compares it to games at War Memorial Stadium when the Hogs play Louisiana State University.

The wave got started, there was jeering of the opposing team and the crowd was constantly on its feet.  The Weevils winning defiantly had something to do with the crowd support, but the fans actually felt like a 12th man on the field.

Also, big ups to the band, constantly playing while the other team had the ball.
