Education students Angela Lewis and LaTish Edwards discussed the link between student involvement in campus activities with academic and professional success at the 14th annual Education Access Conference hosted recently by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Both Lewis and Edwards are seniors majoring in early childhood education. Lewis is from Pine Bluff while Edwards is from Nashville. In addition to addressing the conference, Lewis and Edwards participated in a roundtable discussion. During their presentation, each student discussed the importance of reflective thinking in preparing to teach and touched on their field and intern experiences, the importance of public school mentor teachers and how scholarships and grants, specifically for minorities, have contributed to their academic success. Vera Lang, associate professor of education and
coordinator of the Educational Leadership Program, accompanied Lewis and
Edwards. Have a comment? Please e-mail us. ŠThe Voice 2007 Revised 10/29/2007 06:24:13 PM — http://www.uamont.edu/organizations/thevoice/4_24/edstudents.htm |
