Members of the Alpha Chi Arkansas Zeta Chapter held their Annual Recognition Banquet April 16, in conjunction with Academic Excellence Week. Kate Stewart, professor of English and Alpha Chi honor sponsor, opened the ceremony with a welcome and introduction of dignitaries. Stewart recognized the Alpha Chi 2006-07 officers, which included Amanda Haught, president; Maranda Henley, vice president; Josh Tooke, secretary; Jennifer Mann, treasurer; and Sarah Reed, historian. Following opening remarks from Chancellor Jack Lassiter, Provost David Ray presented awards to the Alpha Chi Academic Olympic Winners: § First Place – Brandy Gavin § Second Place – Robert Forrest § Third Place – Cody Rowland Alpha Chi also recognized several staff and faculty members as follows:

Director of Student Health Services Terri Richardson During the ceremony, Stewart decorated 36 Alpha Chi senior graduates with National Honor Scholarship Society medallions, which they will don during graduation ceremonies. In his closing comments, Ray stressed the importance of an education to the future of the students, but he further expressed the importance of the students’ achievements to the institution.
