The University of Arkansas at Monticello’s campus newspaper, The Voice, won two awards at the 2007 Arkansas College Media Association contest April 20 at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock.
The Voice won third place for the Best Web Edition. Senior Michael Ford of Crossett, editor-in-chief of the publication, won a second place individual award for review writing. “Though I was happy to win another review writing award, it would have been nice to win something in another category,” Ford said. Senior Brooke Burger of El Dorado, managing editor of The Voice, said attending the ACMA convention was a great experience. “It gave us a chance to see where we stand compared to other schools around the state,” she said. “I was proud to see The Voice hold its own next to other schools with more resources.” Other colleges and universities represented at the convention were UA-Fayetteville, UA-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Arkansas Tech, Central Arkansas, John Brown, Harding, Ouachita Baptist and Southern Arkansas. Voice adviser Ronald Sitton recently announced the 2007-08 Voice editorial staff:
