Students Compete in Tournament

Linna Jones
Staff Writer

Students competed in the Tournament of Champions hosted by Kappa Kappa Psi Tuesday, April 3 in the John F. Gibson University Center Gym from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Students participated in dominoes, ping-pong and spades. The winner of each event received a $20 prize. Winners of the events included Andre Dobbs in dominoes, Troy Dillard in ping-pong and Eddie Davis and Andre Dobbs in spades.

Freshman Troy Dillard participated in the event and enjoyed the experience.

“I enjoyed playing in the Tournament of Champions,” Dillard said.

The Tournament of Champions represents a combination of the several spades, ping-pong and dominoes tournaments already held on campus. Kappa Kappa Psi started the event to provide entertainment for students on campus and to inform students about the organization.

Kerry Blakemore, a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, commented on the turnout for the first tournament.

“I think it was a decent turnout for this time of year. We look forward to bigger and better things for next year’s event,” Blakemore said.

Over 23 students participated in the tournament.
