Dad's Place Now Has Sushi

Chad Young
Staff Writer

Why do people drive to Monroe or Little Rock on the weekends to get sushi when they can get it right here in Monticello?

Located on Highway 425 North beside Sound Waves and Waff-L-Inn, Dad’s Place now serves sushi. They offer smoked salmon, shrimp and all kinds of sushi rolls, priced at $4.50 a roll.

Owner Jim Whaley said, “You can place your order Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but at noon they stop taking orders. If you want sushi Thursday or Friday, either one, let them know and they will get your order in, and the sushi will be made fresh daily.”

Junior Brent Harrod said he likes the atmosphere at Dad’s Place and he can’t wait to try the sushi next week. He also said he really likes the Turtle Muddle Slide, which consists of ice cream, the special coffee, milk and ice.

Dad’s Place also serves ice cream, milk shakes, coffee, bagels, soft drinks, frappuccinos and espressos.

“If you need to stay awake, I’ve got it,” Whaley said.

They also have free wi-fi and a new dart league. The dart league meets Mondays from 7 p.m. – 9.m., and the singles dart league meets Saturdays from 10 a.m. – noon. Anyone can come in and play a free dart game.

Dad’s will host a Guitar Hero II Tournament Saturday, April 7, and everyone is welcome to attend. Winners will receive awards at the end.

Whaley said, “If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me anything or check out my Web page www.dadsplacenews.blogspot.com.”

   Dad’s Place is open Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
