Sports Editor The University of Arkansas – Monticello men’s rodeo team won the Mississippi State Rodeo on the weekend of March 8. The men’s team moved up within 400 points of qualifying for the national rodeo. The top two teams in each region qualify for the national intercollegiate rodeo in Casper, Wyo., in June. Currently the men’s team holds the fifth place in the Ozark region while the women’s team is fourth, 384 points from second place. The top three individuals in each event qualify for nationals. Jared Hall is currently in third place in steer wrestling, and Megan Fisher is in second place in goat tying. At the MSU rodeo, the UAM men’s team score 645 points, winning the rodeo by 45. The women’s team finished in fifth place with a score of 160. John Ryan House won the calf roping event with a score of 165. Jared Hall and Bud Bogan both scored in the steer wrestling, giving the men’s team 195 points together. In team roping, Brad Johnson (130), Bart Brunson (155) and Brain Hobson (10) all scored points for the team. Lana Chastain gained 30 points in goat tying. Elizabeth Walker scored 50 points in barrel racing, and Katie Bandy scored 130 points in team roping. The UAM Rodeo team hosts the Boll Weevil
