In Brief - Easter Baskets, Spring Fling

   The winner of the Easter basket, valued at $400, will be announced Monday, April 2. The basket contains delightful items for adults and children alike, such as scented candles, lotion, flavored coffee and candies by Gheradelli, stuffed animals, children’s activity books, assorted munchies and other miscellaneous items. 

   “This is the second year we have organized this fundraiser for the American Cancer Society,” said Landon Grimes, club member. “It has proven to be a very successful event as far as raising money for a great cause.”

   The University of Arkansas-Monticello Student Government Association, the Student Activities Board and Student Programs and Activities Director Lindsey Kight have finalized the plans for Spring Fling 2007.

   This free four-day event will take place around the John F. Gibson University Center. Students will have the option of purchasing a T-shirt at the event.

   The event begins Monday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with bumper cars on the parking lot between the University Center and Maxwell Hall. In case of rain, it will be moved into the gym.

   The SGA and SAB will host a luau by the sand volleyball courts Tuesday, April 10 at 4:30 p.m. Students can enjoy a pork and Hawaiian chicken at the event. Students can visit the carnival outside of the University Center April 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

   Spring Fling 2007 will end with a crawfish boil and water sports Thursday, April 12 at 5 p.m. by the sand volleyball courts.
