Media Services Poet J. Chester Johnson's book, "St. Paul's Chapel," is now available in the UAM Bookstore, and will also be for sale after his reading on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Music building's Harris Recital Hall. This event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required. The title poem of Johnson's new book, "St. Paul's Chapel," commemorates the New York City chapel next to the World Trade Center, which miraculously survived the collapse of the Twin Towers. The chapel was used as the communications and relief center for the recovery workers giving assistance during this disaster. The title poem is one of 12 exhibits on display in St. Paul's Chapel at Ground Zero. Each visitor to the memorial receives a copy of Johnson's poem.
Please join us for this poetry reading on the evening of September 19, 2006. A book sale and signing will immediately follow. From "St. Paul's Chapel" "It stood. Not a window broken. Not a stone dislodged. It stood when nothing else did. It stood when terrorists brought September down. It stood among myths. It stood among ruins...." (J. Chester Johnson. "St. Paul's Chapel & Selected Shorter Poems." Lawrenceville, VA: Brunswick Publishing, 2006. 11) Have a comment? Please e-mail us.
