There is more to Mitch Meredith, director of Housing and Residential Life, than one may think.

Meredith, 25, graduated from UAM in May 2003 with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. After college, he served as a parole officer for two years. He received certification as a Specialized Law Enforcement Officer.

Meredith also served in the United States National Guard for six years, which he left in January.

Meredith married Nikki Meredith, a social work major at UAM, almost three years ago. They have a 1-year-old son named Micah.

Meredith decided to return to UAM because he says Monticello has always felt like home to him, and he loves the university. Also, his job helps his wife, who will graduate in May 2007, to finish college.

Meredith's responsibilities as director of Housing include overseeing the everyday operations of the six residential halls on campus, which are comprised of 650 students. He also serves as the budget manager for the Residential Hall department and as a judicial hearing officer for the university.

Meredith, Phi Lambda Chi alumni, tries to attend all home sporting events. He loves working with students and the Residential Life department. He has an open door policy. For those that wish to talk to him, come on in.
