Co-Sports Editor The Cotton Blossom volleyball team defeated the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech University in four games Tuesday at the Steelman Fieldhouse in front of 525 fans. The Blossoms (9-4, 1-0) are tied for first place in the conference with Harding and Henderson State universities getting wins tonight in the wake of conference play. The Blossoms won the first game by the score of 30-23. The Golden Suns (10-6, 0-1), led by Racheal Urquharts' 14 digs and team high 11 kills, won the next game by a close score of 30-28. The next two games sealed the deal for the Cotton Blossoms as they took both games by posting scores of 30-24 in game four and 30-14 in game five, ultimately giving them the match win. Two-time player of the week Katherine Taju, a senior from Panama City, Panama, had a game high 19 kills to go along with her 17 digs and 4 bocks on the night. Sophomore Maegan Martin of Burnet, Texas, totaled 50 assists in the match as with 10 digs of her own. Taju, who stands atop the conference in kills with an outstanding average of 4.82 on 246 total kills, has the highest percentage on the team with .233 in 597 attempts. ![]() The Cotton Blossoms leads the conference in assists and are second in kills.
