The Gulf-South Conference named University of Arkansas - Monticello freshman Becca Tipton the West Division Player of the Week for her performance the week of Feb. 13. Tipton won this honor for her performance at the UAM Super 8 – Subway Classic. She went 8-13, with four home runs, nine RBIs and five runs scored. Seven of her eight hits went for extra bases. “I’m seeing (the ball) better, and I’m just having fun,” Tipton said. This season Tipton leads the Cotton Blossoms in several offensive categories including batting average (436), homeruns (7) and RBIs (21). She tied for the lead in two categories, including hits (17) with Meredith Heckel and runs (12) with Jenny Dunn. “Becca has had an outstanding season thus far
and has been hitting the ball and playing exceptionally well,” Blossoms
Head Coach Alvy Early said. “I hope she will be able to keep it up as we
start conference play.”
