Artist of the Week: Mute Math

Mute Math - (left to right) Roy Mitchell-Cardenas, Darren King, Greg Hill and Paul Meany.

Have you ever heard of Mute Math? If you haven't you should.

In this day and age good bands are hard to come across, so Mute Math's presence is much needed. This four piece band of longtime friends Paul Meany (vocals/keys), Darren King (drums), Greg Hill (guitar) and Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (bass) hail from New Orleans, La.

With a sound reminiscent to The Police, the instrumental use of Pink Floyd and the epic sound of Muse, Mute Math is by far one of the standout artists of 2007. On the heels of their sophomore release, the self-titled "Mute Math," they're poised and ready to take the world by storm.

Having earned their fan base the old fashioned way through touring and word of mouth, Mute Math's time has come. With the meshing of alternative, ambience and psychedelic, their music sends you on a acid trip without the acid.

If the fact that their talent exceeds anything that's happening in music right now isn't enough to get you to check these guys out, how about the fact that the lead singer plays a mean keystar?

Mute Math will be playing at Revolution Music Room, in Little Rock, Ark. April 13.

   Highly recommended track: "Chaos"
