Chad Young Staff Writer The University of Arkansas at Monticello’s Fred J. Taylor Library and Technology Center requires identification because too many students have been using the lab without IDs. The lab only has 20 computers, so space is limited. Many of the complaints from the lab include too much noise, loud music and lack of respect for others. Technology Assistant Timmy McCorkle said, “This keeps track of who uses the computers, and took action three weeks ago.” Brian Fendley, director of academic computing, said, “Students turn in IDs to the Academic Student Assistant office beside the Technology Center.” Fendley recently priced cameras to install in the lab. Night classes are having problems with the Technology Center noise level. McCorkle said, “Chairs are broken, walls are scratched and students don’t respect anyone with authority.” He reported a few to campus security, which led to charges filed against one individual. The Technology Center requires student IDs all the time, but the lab in Sorrells Hall only checks IDs in the afternoon, according to Sorrells Assistant Courtney Hamilton. The other computer labs currently do not require ID cards. The public computer labs open on campus:
