No matter what team students cheered for, around 30 students watched the Super Bowl on a big screen in the University of Arkansas-Monticello John F. Gibson University Center Feb. 4.

The event, hosted by the Student Activities Board and Aramark, provided students with game-day food and prizes. The Missionary Baptist Student Fellowship donated the use of the projector to show the game on the big screen.

By coming to this event, Director of Student Programs and Activities Lindsey Kight said, “It gave students an alternative to watching the game.”

Jersey Winner - Scott Grubb won the Colts' jersey in the final drawing of the party.

Carrie Crutchfield, a junior, said she came to hang out with her friends. She had fun because some of the people threw around little footballs at one another.

At the end of each quarter, a drawing took place. Students at the event could enter their name for a chance to win a pass for two to the local theater, Hollywood Cinema. The winners of the movie tickets included Jack Cross, Richard Eberle, Eric Bell and Matt Bowers.

At the end of the game, a separate drawing took place for an Indianapolis Colts’ jersey. Scott Grubb won the jersey.

Kight said SAB spent approximately $100 on the event.

Students will see more events sponsored by both Aramark and SAB in the future because it helps the cost both ways.
