Director to Conduct for Bandmasters

   Les Pack, assistant director of bands at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, was recently chosen to serve as conductor of the 2007 Four States Bandmasters Association Concert Band. 

   The Four States Concert Band is comprised of top high school musicians from Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The band performed Jan. 13 at the Perot Theatre in Texarkana, Texas. 

   The program included three of Pack's compositions including "Prelude and Fanfare," an arrangement of "Amazing Grace" and "Images of Auld Lang Syne." Pack's "Prelude and Fanfare" was written especially for the Four States Bandmasters convention and was given its premiere at the concert. The composition was written for antiphonal brass and band with the placement of the brass players in Perot Theatre in mind. Area band directors performed the antiphonal brass portion of the composition.
