John Cruce Staff Writer The University of Arkansas at Monticello’s criminal justice and political science departments will conduct a field study to Ireland that will count for three upper-division credit hours. A maximum of 20 students will attend. Adam McKee, assistant professor of criminal justice, said he received 15 confirmations, so only five slots remain. Junior political science major Zach Baumgarten said, “I want to see the difference between their court system and ours first-hand.” During this eight-day trip, students will take a hop-on, hop-off bus tour and tour sites including castles, the Irish Parliament, Trinity College, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Ireland National Museum and the U.S. Embassy. The group will leave May 14 and return May 22. The trip costs $1,500 plus tuition and meal money. Student loans can be used to pay for the trip. Students can use the hours from the trip towards their criminal justice or political science majors or minors, and students not in either of these programs can fulfill a social science elective.
