Chad Young Staff Writer The Wild Game Feast attracted close to 200 students Feb. 8. Hungry college students came from every direction to get in on the outstanding feast. Rob Leonard, leader of the Missionary Baptist Student Foundation, led the event at the MBSF. He said he thought the turn out was excellent, and the food really tasted great. The event has been going on about 10 years now. Leonard said the food changes every year. This year featured quail, fish, duck, deer, turkey, hog and a lot of side dishes. In recent years, moose, dove, rattlesnake and jumbos of all sorts provided the main attractions. University of Arkansas-Monticello head football coach Gwaine Mathews attended along with other coaches. Leonard said the MBSF feast gives students a chance to meet people they normally would not get a chance to meet. He said he enjoys hanging out and sharing scriptures, which gives him a chance to plant a seed about Jesus Christ and share great food at the same time. He said he loves being around college students and he thought the event “rocked!” Jack Cross, the organization’s president, commended the event as well. “It lets students know there is a great
place to hang out, enjoy food and good fellowship,” he said. Scott Grubbs, a first-year student, said he really enjoyed the atmosphere and felt right at home. The MBSF thanked everyone who helped and who came out for support. Have a comment? Please e-mail us.
