The class will meet Thursday evenings on the McGehee campus from 6–9 p.m., ending March 8. Wells will introduce students to the basics of oil paints, brushes, color palettes and composition. Studio Time -- Students work on their paintings during the fall semester.
Wells said the purpose of the class is to bring out hidden talent in the community.

“I love to paint and it’s been a dream of mine to teach a local class because I feel that we have talented people in this community with stories that could be expressed through their painting,” she said.

Wells previously taught a basic oil painting class at the old Watson School Annex to residents in the local area during the fall semester. Fourteen students, who ranged in age from teens to senior citizens, completed two projects in the eight-week period. The McGehee Desha County Library hosted an exhibit of the students’ work display over the Christmas holiday.

Anyone interested in taking this class can contact Wells at (870) 644-3982 or Sharon Cantrell, Continuing Education Coordinator, UAM College of Technology-McGehee (870) 222-5360.
